Julian Edelman Shares Hilarious Randy Moss Story From Rookie Year

Julian Edelman played quarterback before he joined the NFL, but became a better wide receiver than Randy Moss. When it comes to Moss, Edelman has a really nice story to tell about him.

Edelman signed a deal with the New England Patriots in 2009. Moss and Wes Welker led the Patriots receiving unit and Jules was just a rookie. Moss came up with a hilarious nickname for him and it will definitely give you a good laugh.

“He used to call me ‘Edel-nut,’” Edelman told Jason and Travis Kelce on the “New Heights” podcast. “‘Hey Edel-nut, get my hot tub about 103 and get my Gatorade.’ You have metal tubs and hot tubs. He never wanted to go in the regular hot tub. He had to have — it was like menthol, rubbing alcohol in there. And he’d be like, ‘Edel-nut, go get my towel, my Gatorade and make that hot tub 103-102. Don’t (expletive) it up.’”

Edelman knew what to do when Moss was around

Edelman didn’t have the easiest time in his first season with the Patriots. However, he learned a lot from other veterans. He had the best coaches and everyone made things a lot easier for him later in the season. One thing stands for sure. Edelman knew that he shouldn’t mess with Moss’ personal time.

“This one time Randy, it was like the day before Christmas and we had to work. We had a game on Christmas or something, and Randy was talking to his mom. I just walked by. I was like, ‘Hey Randy, tell mamma Moss I said Merry Christmas.’ He goes, ‘Edel-nut, when I’m talking to my (expletive) mom, you shut the (expletive) up.’ I walked away and didn’t make eye contact. I was so scared. I was a rookie. He’s like, ‘Don’t you (expletive) talk to me when I’m talking to my mom.’ But he’d always love me up, too.”

Edelman is one of the best receivers in league history and let’s just say he earned his spot in the Hall of Fame. Bill Belichick said he was one of the better players he had worked with and Edelman’s discipline is one of a kind.
