Lakers To Target Familiar Name After James Harden Trade To Clippers

The Los Angeles Lakers were linked to many veterans in the last few seasons, but the front office didn’t really make any changes. Moreover, Rob Pelinka kept the core intact and just added a few players to adjust the roster. James Harden was the most recent trade target for analysts, but the Lakers missed the chance to get him.

It’s interesting to note that the Lakers didn’t even do a major move to get Harden. There were never any major negotiations. Harden made a few stops in the last few seasons and now he is playing for the Los Angeles Clippers. The Philadelphia 76ers received Marcus Morris Sr., Robert Covington, Nicolas Batum, and Kenyon Martin Jr. The Clippers got Harden, P.J. Tucker, and Filip Petrusev. Philadelphia was all-in when it comes to making big changes and creating a competitive roster and Harden was their primary target.

Clippers get Harden through a trade, Lakers could get a former Clipper

The Clippers lost four players and even opened a roster spot to complete the trade. They had to waive Danny Green. Well, Green is a decent 3-and-D wing and could join a top contender. Enter the Lakers. Getting Green makes perfect sense for the team.

Green knows the system as he has already been part of the Lakers. He won a ring inside the Orlando bubble, but the Lakers sent him away before the start of the 2020-21 NBA season.

Head coach Darvin Ham started the season without one of the starters. Jarred Vanderbilt was supposed to join the starting lineup, but he deals with an oblique injury. A handful of players didn’t see any action in the Clippers. Now could be the ideal moment to add a new name to the roster.

What makes Green a good fit for the Lakers? He’s a catch-and-shoot wing and can perform well alongside LeBron James, Austin Reaves, and Anthony Davis.

Ham will probably give Green a bench role and 10-15 minutes each game if he joins the team. Green has an army of fans in LA and we can already see him put on a Lakers jersey.
