Patriots Advised To Sign Jaguars CB To Correct J.C. Jackson Mistake

The New England Patriots tried to get all the help they can get to “survive” the season. They made some great moves, but it didn’t help. Head coach Bill Belichick even brought J.C. Jackson back to repair some of the damage. Nothing helped. Bleacher Report discussed a potential target for the Patriots and they may consider making a move and sign a CB.

Amani Oruwariye may seem like a great option for the Patriots. He is on the Jacksonville Jaguars practice unit at the moment. Oruwariye worked two seasons with Matt Patricia and the Detroit Lions, meaning Belichick has probably received some information about him by now.

It’s interesting to note that Oruwariye had his best season following Patricia’s departure. In 2021, the talented 27-year-old intercepted six passes. This makes him a good option for the Patriots. Their cornerback unit was a bit shaky and signing Oruwariye makes perfect sense for the team. Bleacher Report wrote that this positon has “been a mess this season,” adding that “the answers-outside of Christian Gonzales-aren’t on the roster yet.”

Belichick build a good defense, but he can always add another player. Building an even stronger defense could be of great help for the team, right?

Patriots need to sign another CB

Losing Jackson was a big blow for the Patriots. They brought him back to repair the damage. New England sent a sixth-rounder of the 2025 NFL Draft to the Los Angeles Chargers to get Jackson.

Jackson knows the Patriots really well. He was part of the team for four years and took a leading role in terms of interceptions. In his four seasons with the Patriots, he was able to pick off 25 passes.

Jackson’s second stint with the Patriots was not that good. He started six of eight games and allowed 394 yards on 29 completions. Things don’t look good for Jones right now and maybe the Patriots should look for another option in the offseason.
