Patriots Officially Eliminated From Playoffs At Earliest Point Since 2000

The New England Patriots don’t really have a reason to try and win any of the remaining games on their schedule. Many would say their season ended long before it even started. The team entered the season with a loss and nothing changed in the last couple of months. Head coach Bill Belichick and his Patriots players are officially eliminated from the playoffs this season.

NFL analysts say this is the worst season they had have in the last 30 years. Belichick had enough talent on the roster, but it wasn’t enough. This is the earliest the Patriots have been pushed out of the playoffs since the 2000 NFL season.

Patriots eliminated from playoffs after a frustrating season

It is another disappointing season for the Patriots. This includes both players and coaches. Belichick found himself in the hot seat early in the season and never left it. Team owner Robert Kraft had high hopes for the season and definitely expected a different outcome. The organization made some much needed changes and hired Bill O’Brien to lead the offense as the new offensive coordinator for the Patriots. Did it help?

“We’re about winning and doing whatever we can to win,” team owner Kraft told the media on March 28th of this year. “That’s what our focus is. It’s very important to me that we make the playoffs. That’s what I hope happens next year.”

His wish didn’t come true. The Patriots had an awful season and O’Brien’s hiring was of no help. He was supposed to help Mac Jones improve his performance and fins his spot in the NFL world. Jones had his worst season so far as well. Belichick used to bench him in favor of Bailey Zappe and the latter even had a chance to start games.

How will the Patriots saga end? Will the Patriots fire Belichick and bring in a new head coach? Will they part ways with Jones and Zappe? It is too soon to say anything and each scenario will actually turn into speculation at this point.
