Bill Belichick Surprising Reaction To Patriots’ Disastrous OL Play This Season

The New England Patriots put an end to another disappointing season and the team will never be the same again. The Kraft family is expected to make major changes in the offseason and head coach Bill Belichick could be the first to go. It was a frustrating season for every member of the Patriots family. Belichick and his assistants will all agree that the OL struggled more than usual and his comments actually surprised many reporters.

The Patriots offense was the worst in the entire league. Belichick had high expectations from the offensive tackle position and was surprised to see his players struggle when they were supposed to win. Much of the press conference on Wednesday revolved around the struggles Patriots had. Someone asked if Belichick could have predicted the issues his team had.

“Yeah, that’s not the way we thought it would happen when we acquired some of the guys at the beginning of the year,” Belichick said. “But it is what it is.”

Belichick had more expectations from Patriots OL

It’s interesting to note that Trent Brown was a healthy scratch in the Week 17 loss. He had some health issues early in the season, but was a healthy scratch in Sunday’s game. Yes, he is not getting any of the $6 million in playing time incentives.

Brown caused quite a mess in New England, mostly with the comments he made. He wasn’t happy with the way Patriots played Malik Cunningham and got really awkward later in the season. His work ethic was a huge issue and the rest is history.

Belichick added Calvin Anderson and Riley Reiff in the offseason, but none of them was able to make an impact. Anderson saw action in two games and missed the rest of the season. Reiff had some struggles in training camp and was no factor in the regular season.

None of the additions Belichick made was actually efficient. Who is the first to leave the team in the offseason?
