Second Judge Makes Decision On Robert Kraft Orchids of Asia Video Footage

A judge granted a protection order preventing the release of video evidence in the case of two women arrested in the Orchids of Asia Day Spa investigation in which Patriots owner Robert Kraft and other men are accused of soliciting another person to commit prostitution. The judge said he would “piggyback” on County Judge Leonard Hanser’s order that protected the release of the videos.

“It’s the only way I’m going to prevent serious and imminent threat to the administration of justice and there are no other alternatives for me, and I’m not changing venue,” Circuit Judge Joseph Marx said.

Katie Phang, an attorney representing Lei Wang, said the videos were improperly obtained. Tama Kudman, Hua Zhang’s attorney, agreed with Phang.

Dana McElroy, an attorney representing the media, made different arguments.

“We are talking about a First Amendment right to judicial proceedings and to understand what it is that this court rules upon,” McElroy said. “We’re not just talking about a defendant’s right to a fair trial in a vacuum.”

Alex Spiro said, “If you release the videos, you will allow people to sit at home and click on videos of naked people getting massages.”

Phang said there are 41 million results in Google after the state attorney’s office announced their plan to release the video.

“Page upon page,” she said. “The instant dissemination worldwide of this information, you cannot put that Jeannie back into the bottle.”

Wang’s attorneys exlained that the release of the videos won’t serve for a thing, adding that “there is nothing to be gained.”

They say media interest in the videos “appeals to the prurient interests of certain members of the public, and is intended to advance the discussion concerning the conduct of one of the Johns, Robert Kraft, and his conduct with respect to football players.”

The whole case is getting really interesting for media members and they are trying really hard to get the videos. That would be the last thing Kraft needs before the trial. Luckily, the judge ruled in his favor. Everyone deserves a fair trial, right? Prosecutors are definitely unhappy with this decision.
