Julian Edelman Reveals Premise Of Football-Focused TV Series He’ll Pitch

Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman spoke to The Hollywood Reporter’s Tatiana Siegel about the series he will pitch. It’s time to learn more about the beginnings of his career and the struggle he had when fighting for a spot on the Patriots roster.

“It’s going to be loosely based off the early part of my career,” Edelman said. “Everyone thinks that NFL football players are like the show ‘Ballers,’ when in fact, probably 65 to 75 percent of the guys are scratching for a roster spot. They are not known. We all have helmets.

“There are only a handful of guys that are known. When I was a rookie, Tom Brady was talking about taking a helicopter to the Hamptons with his supermodel wife (Gisele Bundchen) while I’m about to go to (an Irish pub near the stadium) and not be recognized. You know what I mean?”

Well, we know many rookies who would relate to this.

Coast Productions, the media company Edelman and Assaf Swissa funded, will work on the show. According to Deadline, it’s a “pseudo-autobiographical half-hour dramedy series.”

Coast Production stands behind Edelman’s documentary, “100%: Julian Edelman,” which covers Edelman’s comeback from a torn ACL and his PED suspension.

In the meantime, Edelman recovers from his thumb injury, and entering a new season with new teammates makes him feel good.

“I’m extremely excited for the new year,” he said. “This is a new team. With training camp coming up, this is kind of like when school’s back in session. We had summer break. You get to see the fellas. But this is where you learn the team, learn (about) each other, become accountable for each other, and work hard together, and create a consistency together,” he said. “This is the beginning shape form of your team, these next few weeks. It’s a crucial point. We put a lot of hard work in during the spring. It’s the next step toward playing with other teams. So it’s definitely exciting.”

Edelman missed the first preseason games, but he will sure suit up for the regular season and his rivals. Game on!
