Report: Patriots Sign 15 Undrafted Free Agents, One Reported Player Omitted

The New England Patriots signed 15 undrafted free agents Tuesday, and Miami defensive end Trevon Hill isn’t on the list. Initial reports suggested that the Patriots plan to add 16 players, and Hill’s agent, Malki Kawa confirmed the signing of his client. However, something happened these days.

Here’s the full list of undrafted free agents:

TE/OLB Rashod Berry, Ohio State

DB Myles Bryant, Washington

TE Jake Burt, Boston College

DE Nick Coe, Auburn

LB De’Jon Harris, Arkansas

WR Will Hastings, Auburn

QB Brian Lewerke, Michigan State

DT Bill Murray, William & Mary

WR Sean Riley, Syracuse

QB J’Mar Smith, Louisiana Tech

RB J.J. Taylor, Arizona

LB Kyahva Tezino, San Diego State

WR Jeff Thomas, Miami

DT Courtney Wallace, Louisiana Tech

WR Isaiah Zuber, Mississippi State

The Patriots signed a good group of undrafted free agents

Will Hastings is probably one of the most interesting players on this list. He is Jarrett Stidham’s former slot receiver. In 2019, Hastings was able to catch 19 passes for 222 yards and a touchdown. He sustained an injury and missed the 2018 season. However, Hastings had 525 receiving yards and four touchdown catches in 2017.

Sean Riley didn’t show up at the scouting combine, but his production is impressive. Riley was a brilliant kickoff return for Syracuse. He returned 115 kickoffs for 2,433 yards in his career. Head coach Bill Belichick will probably use him on special teams.

J.J Taylor will join the running back unit. In 2019, he carried the ball 148 times for 729 yards and five touchdowns for Arizona. Taylor was able to get 255 carries for 1,434 yards in 2018.

NFL teams didn’t catch defensive end Nick Coe on the radar, because he had some disciplinary problems at Auburn. This doesn’t change the fact that his production was awesome. Coe had amazing seven sacks in 2018. He may need to sharpen his skills, but Bill Belichick decided to give him a chance.

Brian Lewerke was quarterback at Michigan State. His arm is really strong and he has an incredible ability to make reads. The Patriots could really use some of this in the quarterback unit. They have Stidham and Brian Hoyer in that part of the game.
