New England Patriots Addressed Future Of Tight End Position

The New England Patriots have finally address their tight end position.

Matt LaCosse’s is now on the on reserve/opt-out and this is a very interesting roster move for the New England Patriots. The 2020 third-round picks Devin Asiasi and Dalton Keene seem to have a nice future for the Patriots. However, there’s still nothing as to what they will do as they are not allowed to be on the practice field until at least Monday.

The rookies in the NFL did not partake in the normal training camp offseason workout program due to the whole crisis going on. There was nothing for the rookies to do this year due to COVID-19.

Nine-year tight end Alge Crumpler filled the depth chart and played around 55% of offensive plays mostly as a run blocker. He took in just six passes for 52 yards with a surprising total of two touchdowns in all 16 games with 10 starts. This was a player that the team though they could use.

He was a good player and someone that the Patriots thought they could depend on.

They will need all they can get after 8 players have opted out of the season so far. This has been a huge deal so far, as the Patriots have more opt outs than anyone else so far. David Andrews, Patriots center, gave his two cents.

“It’s something obviously we all have to think about and make our own choices,” Andrews said during a call on Sunday. “My choice has been made, and it’s something I feel comfortable with. To have the opportunity to go out and play, talking with doctors and my wife, it’s something we feel comfortable with. I’m just excited to get the chance to go out there and compete again.”

“You obviously have to talk about it, right? I mean, it’s something we’ve never faced,” he continued. “Not that I ever can really remember having to deal with something like this – especially as a grown-up. I mean, you’ve got to talk about it, and obviously me and my wife have. I’ve made a decision that we feel comfortable with. Like I said, I’m just super ecstatic to get this thing going here.”
