Patriots Believed To Be Frontrunners For Trade With Cowboys

The New England Patriots entered the offseason with a few great plans on the table. They have to add players to multiple positions. The team lost a few names in the offseason and losing JC Jackson is the biggest blow for the team. They also lost Chase Winovich and Kyle Van Noy. The Patriots don’t have too much cap space but they can pull out a move or two. According to latest reports, the Patriots may agree to sign a trade deal with the Dallas Cowboys.

Patriots to jump on the trade train with the Dallas Cowboys

Patrik Walker of CBS Sports reported that the Patriots are frontrunners for Cowboys tackle La’el Collins. Dallas placed him on the trade block and he’s been getting some offers lately. Will he go to New England?

Collins joined the Cowboys in 2015. In 2021, he saw action in 12 games and had 10 starts. The player has been plagued with injuries in his career but when healthy, his game is really strong.

“There are several teams interested in potentially trading for Collins, but nothing is imminent as of yet, although sources tell CBS Sports a frontrunner may have emerged in Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots,” Walker wrote.

NFL teams are making great changes at the moment. COVID outbreaks forced them to elevate players and try new names on their positions. This helped coaches determine which player works best for their top positions. The Cowboys tried Terrence Steele last season and he was a better fit than Collins.

Getting Collins is a great plan for the Patriots coaching staff. Head coach Bill Belichick will get all the players he needs to support Mac Jones. The young quarterback lacked weapons in 2021 and it looks like he will play with a better group this season.

New England has a few holes on the roster, but things seem to be falling in place. Let’s see what happens in free agency. The Patriots have some nice picks in the draft, too. Belichick and his scouting team traveled to Georgia to attend the pre-draft day.
