Report: LeBron James Has Preferred Choice For Lakers Head Coach

The Los Angeles Lakers finished the season with a win over the Brooklyn Nets, but this didn’t secure their spot in the play-in tournament. Lakers players lost too many games in the regular season. They lost games to weaker opponents and struggled to make an impact in games against their rivals. The front office will be super busy this offseason. Rob Pelinka has a few major tasks to deal with right now. Finding a new head coach is a priority. The Lakers announced the firing of Frank Vogel right after the end of the season. LeBron James respects Vogel, but he has a preferred replacement for the former Lakers head coach.

LeBron James has preferred coach for the Lakers and it makes sense

Mark Jackson. We know a few people who’d be excited by the idea of seeing Jackson join the Lakers as their next head coach. Yes, Vogel helped the team win a title inside the Orlando bubble, but the last couple of seasons were a mess. The Lakers struggled to win games and Vogel made a few bad moves. Of course, he didn’t have much choice because many players sustained injuries and sat out games.

Will Jackson be a better fit for the team?

Jackson has already worked with a contender. He coached the Golden State Warriors for three straight seasons. Stephen Curry and his teammates made the playoffs twice, but didn’t win a ring.

Jackson is skilled and has great experience in the NBA. The Lakers are free to make the best decision for the team. There are so many open questions right now. LeBron and Anthony Davis are still around, but they have been linked to several other teams. Will these two leave the franchise? What about Russell Westbrook and his struggles? Pelinka will have to trade him or find other players to boost the roster.

Let’s see if Vogel’s firing changes the energy in Los Angeles. The new head coach will face a huge challenge. Coaching LeBron seems easy because he is the GOAT, but some coaches have hard time coping with his dominance. In a good way.
