Patriots Wideout Reportedly Sustained Injury During OTAs

The New England Patriots may be dealing with a huge issue at the moment. They may enter the new season without one of their better players. Patriots wideout Tyquan Thornton sustained an injury in OTAs and this puts the team in a really uncomfortable position.

Thornton was brilliant in the first of three OTAs the team opened to the media. However, he was nowhere to be seen in the next two sessions. What happened to the talented player?

Mike Reiss from ESPN was among the first to report that Thornton is “managing a soft-tissue-related injury.”

We don’t have much information on the severity of Thornton’s injury. Will he miss the upcoming mandatory minicamp? The Patriots will provide an update in the next few days. We are definitely keeping a close eye on his status. Thornton was brilliant with the Patriots and fans would definitely want to see more from him in the next few seasons.

Patriots have high hopes for the wideout despite his injury

The Patriots selected the 22-year-old in the second round of the NFL Draft and he was the 50th overall pick in 2022. Thornton had great moments with the Patriots in 2022 despite his injury. He broke his clavicle in the preseason and missed the first four games of the regular season.

Thornton took the field for 526 of the team’s 1,052 offensive snaps and had 22 catches on 45 targets for 247 yards and two touchdowns. The young wideout also carried the ball three times for 16 yards and a score. It wasn’t a spectacular season, but Thornton is definitely a great player.

He played really good football in the first open OTA on May 31, and hopefully, this injury won’t keep him away from the field for a long time.

Patriots quarterback Mac Jones has nothing but great words for Thornton and praised his willingness to stay consistent. The wideout is still young and has a lot to learn this offseason, but he is on a really good way. Let’s see how things go in the next few weeks.
