Key Patriots Pass Rusher Named As Trade Candidate After Latest Rumor On Contract Talks

The New England Patriots don’t look too good right now and the organization may make drastic changes to the roster. Head coach Bill Belichick is expected to make some moves by the trade deadline and he may have a few ideas on his mind. The legendary head coach is frustrated with the current situation in New England. His team won just one game and lost five so far. He even threw a tablet in the game against the Las Vegas Raiders! We can’t even imagine Robert Kraft’s frustration! According to recent rumors, the Patriots may trade a popular pass rusher.

The Patriots will do some contract talks in the near future. Enter Josh Uche. The pass rusher hasn’t engaged in any trade talks so far, but he may be the perfect trade candidate. Belichick didn’t really made him available, but the lack of negotiations switches the focus in that direction.

Uche joined the NFL as a second-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He saw action in 42 games with the Patriots, delivering 54 tackles, 28 quarterback hits, 17.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles.

The pass rusher did an excellent job in 2022. He played in 15 games and it was his breakout season. Talented Uche also had his career-bests tackles, quarterback hits, and sacks. Many thought he would be a priority for the team heading into the new season.

The pass rusher gives the Patriots a reason to trade him

Things changed this season. Uche hasn’t flashed his dominant side, but did play in all six games. He has six tackles, three quarterback hits, and two sacks. His foot injury makes things even worse for him.

Belichick will have to think twice before confirming a deal with any of his trade candidates. Will Uche get a long-term deal with the Patriots? He should use the remainder of the season to show his best game, otherwise the Patriots will let him go without a second thought.

The 1-5 record may force Belichick to make some unexpected changes. Who will be the first to go?
