Bill Belichick Talks Kyle Dugger Future Amid Trade Rumors

The New England Patriots lost another game in the 2023 NFL season and trade rumors are bubbling again. Kyle Dugger is the most recent trade topic for the Patriots, but head coach Bill Belichick didn’t reveal much about his future in New England.

The NFL trade deadline arrived and the Patriots were expected to make some moves. Dugger has a year left on his four-year deal with the Patriots and will have a chance to test the open market next season. The Patriots could speed up the process and send him away by the deadline. Belichick kept to himself and just made a few comments about Dugger. The Patriots are coming off a bad loss to the Dolphins, so he wasn’t really into discussing future plans. Does he want Dugger on his roster?

“Yeah, of course,” Belichick said. “Absolutely.” Coach B didn’t change his mind and shut down every question about contracts.

“No, I’m not going to get into any contract conversations,” Belichick said.

Patriots like Dugger enough to keep him away from the trade block

Belichick likes Dugger and everything he brings to the football field. He is trying his best each game. Will he secure his spot in New England?

“Yeah, Kyle had a lot of production yesterday,” Belichick told the media.  “When Ja’Whaun [Bentley] went out, he took over the signal calling. So, he does a good job in that area. Kyle’s a smart kid that helps us in a lot of different ways. He’s a versatile player in the running game, passing game, [and] kicking game. He had a productive day yesterday.”

Trade moves seem to be the hottest topic these days. However, Belichick revealed less than nothing. I guess everyone will have to wait for an official statement from the team. As he likes to say, the Patriots are on to the next game, a win, hopefully.

“Yeah, we just got back from Miami late last night, so working through the game and we’ll deal with that here over the — whatever period of time there is — I don’t know,” Belichick said.

Reports reveal that Dugger has already attracted the attention of several teams. Albert Breer from Sports Illustrated reported that the Patriots have received calls on Dugger.
