Patriots Advised To ‘Submarine’ Buccaneers For Projected $108 Million QB

The New England Patriots will need to upgrade their quarterback unit and find a long-term solution to the problem. Mac Jones is coming off another disappointing season with the team. His obvious struggle gave Patriots a big headache. As if this wasn’t enough, his backups struggled throughout the season as well. Will Jerod Mayo try to save Jones’ NFL career or is he gearing up to take another route? According to several analysts, the Patriots should do an effort and get Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield.

New England has enough cap space to get a star player. They also have great draft picks to work with. Getting a veteran quarterback makes sense, too. Mayfield is an excellent player and he could fit well in Mayo’s 2024 roster.

NFL insider Jeremy Fowler had an interesting answer to a question related to the most desired offseason scenarios and it’s related to Mayfield.

“The Patriots submarine the Buccaneers by signing QB Baker Mayfield,” Fowler wrote. “While Tampa is the clear-cut favorite to re-sign Mayfield, now a coveted free agent after a banner year with the Bucs, anything can happen in free agency. And the Patriots’ new brain trust — including lead personnel man Eliot Wolf and personnel executive Alonzo Highsmith — were part of the Cleveland regime that took Mayfield No. 1 in the 2018 draft. They believed in him.”

Patriots can destroy the Buccaneers with a Mayfield deal

Mayfield was brilliant last season. He got the best of his time in Tampa Bay and delivered 4,044 yards passing and had a 96.0 quarterback rating. The Buccaneers quarterback also throw 28 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. His team celebrated a great playoff win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Buccaneers have a chance to re-sign the star quarterback. He would love to stay with his current team as well. However, his asking price may be a bit high.

The Patriots can definitely afford Mayfield. Will they spend big cash to get the Buccaneers quarterback?
