Patriots Sign Former Vikings Wide Receiver To $4 Million Deal

The New England Patriots are not wasting their time and they have now made a move to sign a former Minnesota Vikings receiver. K.J. Osborn is signing a $4 million deal with the Patriots.

Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero were among the first to report the signing. The Patriots didn’t really take any major risk with this signing. They have enough cap space to work with and Osborn got a one-year deal. In other words, the Patriots are not breaking their bank and won’t get stuck with a struggling player if the Osborn experiment doesn’t work.

The Vikings selected Osborn in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He spent four seasons in Minnesota and will now try his chances in New England.

Osborn didn’t see much action in his rookie campaign with the Vikings. However, he developed into a strong receiving option for the Vikings. In three seasons with the Vikings, Osborn had 158 receptions for 1,845 yards and 15 touchdowns, averaging 11.7 yards per reception.

In his second year with the Vikings, Osborn received a key role. He had 50 receptions for 655 yards receiving and 7 touchdowns.

Patriots sign another receiver to add depth to the unit

The Patriots have a chance to add great depth to their receiving unit. Osborn will definitely elevate the energy in the group. Head coach Jerod Mayo can also see his performance in kick and punt return positions.

The Patriots may not be done adjusting their receiving unit though. Osborn joins Kendrick Bourne, DeMario Douglas, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Tyquan Thornton, Kayshon Boutte, Jalen Reagor, T.J. Luther, and Kawaan Baker.

New England introduced major changes following the departure of Bill Belichick. Mayo will replace him and Alex Van Pelt is the new Patriots offensive coordinator. These two will be really busy heading into training camp. There a lot of new names on the roster and things can really improve for the team in the upcoming season. Can the Patriots make the big game without Coach B leading the charge?
