WR Kendrick Bourne Opens Up On Patriots Negotiations, Sets Timeline For Return

The New England Patriots wanted to re-sign Kendrick Bourne right after he sustained an injury. There have been some negotiations between Bourne and the team. The talented player really wanted to return to the team at that point. Free agency is almost here and Bourne would love to continue playing with the Patriots.

The veteran wide receiver talked about his future plans in an appearance on “NFL Total Access. He shared details of his contract negotiations with the team, once again confirming his desire to play with the Patriots.

“Obviously, it’s a new coach and new situation, but the building itself, the organization itself, what they stand for, has helped me grow, man. It’s some place, they hold a special place in my heart, man. So, I would love to go back,” Bourne said. “Free agency frenzy as we’re all talking about. I don’t know what’s going to happen. But I’m excited to know.

“It’s a place that is definitely in the talks. It’s going well so far. We’ll see how far it goes, but just negotiating and how it goes, we’ll see.”

Patriots gave Bourne an offer

Sources reveal that the Patriots have already made an offer to the wide receiver. However, it seems like Bourne will enter the open market and see what other teams have to offer.

The Patriots acquired Bourne in 2021. In his first season with the team, the wide receiver did 55 receptions for 800 yards and five touchdowns. He didn’t have a really good performance in 2022, but got off to a strong start in 2023. NFL analysts predicted a strong season for Bourne, but he tore his ACL in Week 8.

Bourne’s recovery goes really well and surgeon Neal ElAttrache confirmed it.

“He let me know that I’m going to be ready, come in minicamp getting ready and then training camp I’m full go,” Bourne said. “My plan is to play Game 1. And I believe I’m going to be ready.”
