Lakers Anthony Davis Issues Warning To Rival: ‘We Ready’

The Los Angeles Lakers made the Western Conference Finals last season, but couldn’t get past the Denver Nuggets. Nikola Jokic was a dominant force on the basketball court and he will challenge the Lakers once again. Well, Anthony Davis and his Lakers teammates are definitely ready to meet their rival.

“It was just a lot of the talking … going on,” Davis told the Spectrum Sportsnet crew on October 2. “All right. We get it. Y’all won. But … me and Bron had some conversations just like, ‘We can’t wait.’ … We feel like that we had enough to win. Obviously, we were climbing an uphill battle for two months trying to make it to playoffs. But it’s a lot of motivation.”

The Nuggets won four straight games and made the NBA Finals. Their head coach used every opportunity to mention the Lakers following the series.

Davis and Lakers teammates have a surprise for their rival

AD took notice of the comments and his response was clear. He wasn’t too happy about the attitude Malone boasted in the offseason.

“You want to win,” Davis said. “Anytime you lose you know it’s motivation to get ready for next season trying to compete for a championship. So that in itself is motivation. But also all the little talking that’s been going around all summer, we ready.”

Davis had a good performance in the series against Denver. He averaged 26.8 points, 14.8 rebounds, 2.8 blocks, 2.3 assists, and 1.3 steals. Jokic even said that Davis is one of the better players in the NBA.

The Lakers are expected to do better next season. Will Davis adjust his game? What’s next on his schedule?

“I think it’s the Lakers team and I play for the Lakers,” Davis said when asked if the extension signed this offseason helps him understand that it’s now his team.

Davis is 100% ready to win. Staying healthy is a top priority now. He has already missed too much time due to injuries.

“It’s my goal every year to play 82 [games],” Davis said. “Nothing’s changed. Every year you want to come out and play every game and help the team win. Especially my role, I know it’s a big piece of this team, and with me being on the floor it definitely helps us.”
