Bill Belichick Addresses Signing New QB, ‘Ridiculous’ Coaching Question

The New England Patriots suffered a 10-7 loss to the New York Giants and their struggles were on full display once again. Head coach Bill Belichick never put his coaching in question, but he is definitely aware of the need for a change.

New England has a 2-9 record at the moment. Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe had another bad night, combining for 21-of-35 passing for 136 yards, zero touchdowns, and three interceptions.

Being this low in the division gives the Patriots a chance to pick a good player in the 2024 NFL Draft. Will Belichick bring another quarterback in New England?

“I don’t really see that right now, but I mean, I wouldn’t rule anything out, anything that would help our team,” Belichick told the media during a press conference on Monday, November 27. “We’ve brought in players at any position. You never know what’s going to happen.

“If I think there’s somebody, if our pro scouting department thinks there is somebody that would help us, we’ll certainly listen to it and take a look at it, at any position. It’s not really about the quarterback position. It would really be any position. I don’t know. Nobody that comes to mind, but we’ll see.”

Jones struggles to deliver great numbers and his backup doesn’t seem to make a change either. In a surprising move for the organization, head coach Belichick decided to cut ties with the remaining quarterback on the Patriots roster. Patriots waived Grier and Malik Cunningham is the only player who can see any action at QB.

Head coach Belichick won’t stop coaching the Patriots

Belichick and the Patriots have another difficult season and many thought that team owner Robert Kraft will fire him after the regular season. These rumors were really loud and some of them got to Belichick. He shut down any chance of coaching another team.

“Yeah, that’s ridiculous,” the head coach said during his appearance on “The Greg Hill Show” on November 27.

Belichick has been around for a really long time and doesn’t even think of going somewhere else. He loves his job and the team. Having a few bad seasons won’t force him to quit his job and move across the country.

“Every week’s a challenge, and I’m excited about the challenge, the opportunity, and what we have to do to win each week. I’ll keep working as hard as I can to help our team,” Belichick said during Sunday’s press conference.
